THE 9TH ANNUAL ROWING NEW BRUNSWICK HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS


On Saturday June 4, 2005, the 9th annual New Brunswick High School Rowing Championships was hosted by the Kennebecasis Rowing Club. Crews from five schools took part: Kennebecasis Valley High School, Harbourview High School, Saint John High School, Saint Malachy’s High School and Rothesay Netherwood School. Schools competed in novice and varsity 4+ and 8+ events in both men’s and women’s categories.

The event capped a successful season that saw the addition of an indoor rowing regatta where new 1000m local records were set on the ergometers for high school male (Andrew Mills - RNS - 3:04.8) and female (Erika Foster – SJHS - 3:44.4).

It was a full day of racing at the high school championships that saw several close finishes at the end of the Renforth Wharf. Rothesay Netherwood School captured gold in the novice men’s 4+ and 8+ and the varsity men’s 4+ while also earning 4 second place finishes. KVHS was close behind, earning gold in the varsity men’s 8+, varsity women’s 4+ and 8+. Harbourview won the novice women’s and Saint John High School brought home gold in the novice women’s 4+.

Saint John High School 25 points
Harbourview High School 16 points
Saint Malachy’s High School 7 points
