2008 Former National Team Rower Inducted into The Sports Hall of Fame


Former World Champion and Olympian Ed Winchester is one of 6 to be inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame.

Winchester holds degrees in journalism from Ryerson and Carleton universities and worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and several Canadian newspapers and Rowing News.


Wincheater is a former rower of the Kenebecassis Rowing Club in Rothesay New Brunswick. Ed began rowing competitively in 1987, where he would go onto to winning numerous champinships. After a back injury that could have permanently ended his career, Ed returned to the National Team. After overcoming many obstacles associated with back injuries and losing his ranking as a National team athlete, Ed went on to win his seating for the National Team selections and continued his career until 1999.

Ed is among the 7 K. R. C. athletes who have made it to the national team since the club opened its doors in 1971.
